Fully funded bachelor's degree study in Japan for Indian students who finish Class 12 with at least 80%, selected through the Embassy and Consulates of Japan in India. The 2027-intake call closed in May 2026; the next call has not been posted.
A Government of Japan (MEXT) scholarship for undergraduate study leading to a bachelor's degree, in social sciences and humanities or natural sciences (medicine and dentistry are not offered in India; art and music are not eligible). Up to 12 scholarships were offered in India for 2027. Grantees get a monthly allowance of 117,000 yen (about Rs 68,800), exemption from education fees and round-trip airfare. The period is five years including one year of Japanese-language preparatory education, or four years if placed directly in a university.
