Hyogo Prefecture funds up to 500,000 yen for high school students who design their own summer study-abroad plan in any field (sport, arts, volunteering, local industry, business and more) and act as Hyogo ambassadors.
Started in FY2024 as a public-private project. Students set their own theme abroad (no restriction on destination or language, except areas at Foreign Ministry danger level 2 or above), experience several 'Hyogo Field Pavilion' sites before departure, promote Hyogo while abroad, and present at the pre-departure and return events. About 30 high school students were funded in FY2026. Eligible costs include economy airfare, programme and tuition fees, accommodation, insurance, passport and visa fees and domestic transfers.
