A four-stage state mathematics olympiad for pupils in grades 7-8 (about ages 13-14), from school to republican level, whose exact-science final is held as the international Al-Khwarizmi Olympiad (KhIMIO).

The Fan olimpiadalari markazi runs the Al-Khwarizmi olympiad as its 'young talents' olympiad for grades 7-8, with tests and written work. According to the Centre, more than 120,000 pupils took part in the district stage and more than 1,800 in the regional stage, with 6 republican winners. Winners are admitted to the reserve of pupils trained for international olympiads.
