Waseda University 'Mezase! Miyako no Seihoku' Scholarship (Pre-approved, Apply Before Entry) - 2027 Entry, Round 2

Waseda University's pre-approved scholarship for academically strong, financially constrained applicants from high schools outside the Tokyo area: candidates are approved before the entrance exam and receive JPY 450,000-700,000 a year for four years if they enrol. Round 2 web applications run from 15 December 2026 to 19 January 2027 (23:59).

Funded by donations from the Waseda alumni association and the Waseda Card, the scholarship promises eligibility before entry so that students from outside the capital region can plan their studies. About 1,200 candidates are approved (900 in round 1 and 300 in round 2, including transfer applicants). Payments are made in two halves (end of July and end of March) and continue for four years, subject to yearly checks of finances and grades.
