Created from a policy proposal by young people under Tokyo's Kodomo Smile Movement, Job EX matches students with host organisations ranging from large firms and startups to government agencies (in 2026 these included Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, LINE Yahoo, IBM Japan, Japan Airlines, the Japan Meteorological Agency, the Tokyo Metropolitan Police and the University of Tokyo). Programmes typically include a company overview, hands-on work tasks, proposing ideas for business or community issues, and talking with employees about balancing work and childcare. About 18 'student reporters' also join selected programmes, interview executives and publish articles on the site.
