Leave a Nest and partner companies give small research grants and about six months of research coaching to teenagers pursuing original research on themes set by each sponsor. No grant is open at the moment; the 2027 awards have not been announced.
Founded in 2016, the Science Castle Research Grant supports self-started research by teenagers. Each award has a theme set by a partner company, for example tea research (Ito En), linear-motion engineering (THK), health, environment and community (Asahi Soft Drinks), DE&I, or hands-on making (Hiroshima Institute of Technology). Grants are generally unrestricted research funds, and a research coach supports each team for about six months. Results are presented at Science Castle conferences.
