Kompetisi · Daring
An annual drawing and painting competition for young people aged 7-18, with age categories 12-14 and 15-18 relevant to secondary students, celebrating the link between art and biology. The 2026 competition has closed and the 2027 edition had not been announced when checked.
Entrants draw or paint an animal, plant or fungus; the 2026 theme was favourite fungi, medicinal and aromatic plants or CITES-listed species. Winners in each age category (7-11, 12-14, 15-18) of the UK strand receive a prize bundle from Defra and an experience day at the Royal Veterinary College, and the Nancy Rothwell Prize strand for specimen drawings awards £50.
