About 199 free state specialized schools in districts and cities across Uzbekistan admit pupils by test into grades 5-10 in exact sciences (mathematics, physics) and natural sciences (biology, chemistry) tracks.
The Agency of Specialized Educational Institutions runs about 199 regional specialized schools and boarding schools teaching exact and natural sciences in depth with Cambridge-based programmes. For 2026-27 the Agency set quotas for entry to grades 5 to 10, including 2,017 places in grade 9 and 2,491 in grade 10 nationwide. Exams are one-stage tests: for grades 8-10 in the exact sciences track algebra (12), geometry (8), physics (10) and English (15); in the natural sciences track biology (10), chemistry (20) and English (15); younger grades take mathematics or science plus English. Winners of the 3rd stage of key subject olympiads are admitted without exams to schools in their region.
