The National Youth Orchestra audits musicians aged 13-18 at about Grade 8 standard each year for its residential courses and concerts. Applications and auditions are free and bursaries are available.

NYO describes itself as the world's greatest orchestra of teenagers. Members take part in residential courses and perform on major stages. NYO Inspire is a separate free programme for musicians at about Grade 6 and above.
