Teams design an experiment and submit a proposal; no prior experience or completed prototype is required. Up to 60 winning schools receive $1,500 USD, a flight box, technical mentoring and an assigned balloon-flight slot to build and test their payload. Students do not travel on the balloon. Proposals are submitted remotely; winning experiments are built at their insured US school.
