A free eight-session programme at the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo, where 20 junior high and high school students meet artists and specialists, explore the collection and then plan and lead an art-discovery event for elementary school children.
Part of the National Museums of Art's 'Connecting Children with Museums' initiative, supported by the Adobe Foundation. In the first half participants get to know the museum and its collection and take part in workshops and conversations with artists and art professionals. In the second half they use that experience to design their own programme and run 'Bijutsu Hakkentai' (Art Discovery Squad), guiding elementary school children through the joys of art. Students who like art, are unsure about it or think they are bad at it are all welcome.
