An individual online economics test that is one of three routes onto Japan's team for the International Economics Olympiad 2027, which Japan hosts in Tokyo. Applications opened on 15 October 2026.
The International Economics Olympiad tests economics, financial literacy and business cases, with all questions in English. There are three ways onto Japan's team: winning a regional round of the Economics Koshien quiz, being on the grand prix team of RealBiz, or passing this special selection, an online economics test in English that includes an essay. Top scorers join about 20 students at the final selection camp. Because Japan is the 2027 host, 10 students (two teams) will be chosen instead of the usual 5. Selected representatives also take part in online preparatory study.
