High School Peace Ambassadors are recognised at the UN as 'Hiroshima-Nagasaki Peace Messengers'. Since 2000 they have visited the UN Office at Geneva, where the Conference on Disarmament meets, and in 2014–2016 they gave speeches at the Conference. Ambassadors take part in the High School Students' 10,000 Signature Campaign, study in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and report on their activities at events and schools. More than 250 students have served; in 2026, 22 ambassadors were chosen from 19 prefectures.
