Japan's route to the World Robot Olympiad: teams of 2–3 students and a coach build and program autonomous robots, competing in regional qualifiers and the WRO Japan final to earn places at the international final.

WRO is an international contest for autonomous robots built from commercial kits and programmed by students. Categories: ROBO MISSION (mission-based speed challenge), FUTURE INNOVATORS (SDG-themed robot solutions with presentation), ROBO SPORTS (head-to-head matches) and FUTURE ENGINEERS (AI self-driving). Regional winners advance to the Japan final, whose best teams represent Japan internationally. Beginner divisions with WRO Japan rules are also offered.
