21st Science Geography Olympiad Japan Championship (Kagaku Chiri Olympiad) and 2027 iGeo Selection
Japan's national geography olympiad, which selects four students for the 23rd International Geography Olympiad in Jelgava, Latvia, in 2027. Entry is free and closes at 23:59 on 15 November 2026.

The 1st round is a 50-minute online multimedia test with maps, charts and photos. About 20% of the questions are in English, and paper English-Japanese dictionaries are allowed. About the top 100 advance to a 120-minute written test, and gold, silver and bronze medals are awarded. About 10 top eligible students then do a field-based exam and group discussion, and 4 are sent to iGeo. Some universities use the results in special admissions such as comprehensive (AO) selection.
