An annual two-day residential program at JICA Kyushu where high school teams from Kyushu simulate real JICA volunteer assignments, interact in English with JICA trainees from developing countries, and present action plans. The 2027 guidelines are due in April 2027.
Students learn about conditions in other countries and the state of international cooperation. In 2026 groups built action plans based on actual JICA Overseas Cooperation Volunteer requests (environmental education in Uganda, primary education in Mozambique, youth activities in Mongolia, physical education in the Maldives), heard from JICA staff with overseas experience, talked with JICA trainees over dinner, and presented their plans. English is used only when talking with the trainees; willingness to communicate matters more than language level.
