Horizon Labs pairs a high-school student with a PhD or postdoctoral scholar for individual research. Students refine a question, read scholarly sources and use methods suited to the topic: literature review, argument, meta-analysis, a research proposal or analysis of public datasets. Available Labs subjects include biology, chemistry, physics, machine learning, history, philosophy, economics and business. The planned capstone is about 20 pages or 5,000 words, with a completion certificate and instructor grade report. The comparison table lists 15 instructor sessions, four writing-coach sessions and four publication-specialist sessions. Publication support covers up to three submission rounds; acceptance by a journal is not guaranteed. This record covers winter Labs rather than summer-only small-group Seminars.
