University of Liverpool (Widening Participation and Outreach)
A free two-day University of Liverpool widening participation summer school for Year 12 students interested in Veterinary Science, followed by a week of work experience. The 2027 dates are still to be confirmed.
University of Leeds (Leeds Medical School) with Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
A free four-day residential for Year 12 widening participation students considering Medicine at Leeds, run with Bradford Teaching Hospitals, which may lead to a conditional offer. The 2027 dates have not been announced.
The Silver CREST Award recognises a student-led STEM project of around 30 hours, assessed by a CREST assessor, with a nationally recognised British Science Association award. Projects can be submitted year-round through the CREST application platform.
The National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain (NYO)
A free, no-audition programme from the National Youth Orchestra for 13-18 year-old orchestral players of about Grade 6-8, with free workshops, residencies and a full orchestra experience. Applications for 2027 are closed and interest can be registered for 2028.
A one-day virtual insight into life as a lawyer at Osborne Clarke for students in Years 11-13, with interactive workshops on commercial awareness and working through a commercial contract. Sessions run on 5 November 2026, 18 February 2027 and 3 June 2027.
A free University of Leeds programme for Year 12 students interested in Politics and International Relations, with a contextual offer for eligible students. Applications for 2027 are not yet open.
University of St Andrews (Access for Rural Communities, ARC)
A three-year widening access programme at the University of St Andrews supporting senior phase pupils from rural and remote communities in Scotland with core and optional events in person and online.
University of Surrey (Widening Participation and Outreach)
A two-day non-residential chemistry summer school and competition at the University of Surrey for Year 12 students, who work in teams of 3 or 4 on analytical experiments about local water. The 2027 dates have not been published.
Literature Wales (with Cardiff University School of English, Communication and Philosophy)
A free programme from Literature Wales for 14 young emerging writers aged 16 to 18 in Wales, offering mentoring by professional writers, workshops, a residential and a creative community.
