A free, selective program at The University of Osaka where about 130 high school students attend monthly lectures with small-group discussion, experience research in over 40 lab themes and exchange with international students.
The national championship of RoboCupJunior Japan, where student teams compete in Soccer, Rescue and OnStage robot leagues and Japan's teams for the RoboCup 2027 world championship are selected.

A selective peace-education and international-affairs programme run since 2017 by the Junior Chamber International Japan, in which up to 10 junior high and high school students train in Japan, visit international organisations in New York and then run awareness activities in their home regions.
Japan's national non-repayable scholarship for low- and middle-income students, applied for through the high school before entering university; it comes with a tuition and enrolment-fee waiver under the Higher Education Study Support System. The cycle for students entering in April 2028 has not been announced yet.

A free national program co-run by MAFF, MEXT and the Ministry of the Environment in which about 65 high school students are each paired with a 'master' who lives and works with forests, rivers or the sea, interview them in person and write their life story in the master's own words. Kagoshima City's long-running youth exchange sends selected local junior high and high school students to sister cities such as Perth, Miami, Strasbourg and Changsha, with the city covering up to 80% of travel costs.
